It is with much sadness to inform of the passing of former Victorian Veterans State team member, Jim Healy, aged 85yo.

Originally from England, where he was a top player during his prime in the English Counties, he moved to Melbourne in 1968 and settling into the Croydon area.

Jim played in the VTTA from 1968 through to the mid 1980’s, his first season was leading player in A2 and then followed many seasons in A1. He also played at Croydon & Districts TTA where he naturally was an A1 player and won several A1 leading player awards with many battles against the likes of Len Hayes & Bill Bates.

Jim was in the first Victorian Veteran State Team that competed at the 1st National Veterans Teams championships in 1984, where the team won Gold medal in the Over 40’s. He was in further Gold medal teams in the Over 50’s & 60’s. Jim won two O/50 Men’s doubles with Bill Bates (1985) and Ron Foster (1988) and also won the Over 40 Men’s Singles in 1978.

Jim is survived by his wife Barbara and his son Jerry (who also was a long time table tennis player).
