TTV's New History Group
Published Fri 07 Aug 2020
Dear Affiliates & Life Members,
2025 promises to be a big year for our table tennis community as Table Tennis Victoria (formerly Victorian Table Tennis Association) celebrates its centenary year. As part of its plans to mark this very significant milestone, TTV has set up the “TTV History Group” which has been tasked with writing a history of the first 100 years of the VTTA/TTV. The members of this group are Bob Tuckett (Chair), John Alder, Andrew Cornell, Martin Elliget, Chris Mainland, Jim Montgomery and Brian Zammit.
The History Group is in a preliminary research phase. For instance, we are currently in the process of sifting through newspaper articles from the early 1900s to the post-war period and subsequent decades. Other valuable sources of information are VTTA/TTV annual reports, newsletters and so on.
However, tapping into that vast mine of information held by players, officials, and volunteers, past and present, in Victoria (and elsewhere) is critical to the success of this project. We therefore seek the assistance of Affiliates in reaching out to all members of the table tennis community. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please publicise the attached notice as widely as possible (on your Facebook pages, websites, etc) and continue to encourage collaboration as much as you can.
The History Group looks forward to working with you all over the next three or four years to ensure the success of this project.
