As we come to the end of another Financial Year, we wanted to remind everyone that donating to the S-Trend Sportswear Junior Scholarship Fund is tax deductible, and can be claimed via your 2021 tax return.

Thanks to our partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF), TTV have been able to attain the full benefits of charitable foundation status, which importantly includes giving all donations tax-deductible status.

The Fund is geared around providing support for junior entry level pathways, and development opportunities for elite Victorian juniors. In 2020, six juniors were successful applicants of the fund to assist with the costs of their training, development and participation.

Donations to the fund will assist with the continued goal of carrying out TTV’s Strategic Plan ‘Our Future Now’. Two of the focus areas of the plan are ‘Participation’ and ‘Performance’, and we are asking for your help to deliver positive outcomes for our junior players in these areas by helping us fund key projects related to them.

Some of these projects include:

Participation Growth Strategy

• Entry Level Programs – introducing primary school aged children to the sport
• Social Programs – providing opportunities to play in no-traditional spaces
• School Competitions – a Schools Cup for al primary aged children to access
• Safe club environments – providing a detailed checklist to promote positive clubs

High Performance

• Regular high-quality environments for TTV junior rep players – State HP program
• Subsidised travel and coaching for elite juniors – national & international

Participation and performance are both very important areas for our sport. Sport Australia’s AusPlay data shows that only 3% of children are active enough outside of school to provide health benefits.

We strongly believe that our sport which is not weather dependent, or reliant upon large physical spaces, is particularly well-placed to attract those children who are perhaps not attracted to traditional mass-participation and contact sports.

Our focus after attracting new juniors to table tennis is the High-Performance Program, which is the pinnacle of the pathway that begins with our entry level programs, progresses through the club system and ultimately ends up with State (and perhaps national) representation.
