TTV Secures VicHealth Grant to Support the Physical & Disability Support Program at The Hangar

In exciting news for para table tennis in Victoria, TTV has successfully secured some new funding through VicHealth’s Reimagining Health: A VicHealth Partnership Grant.

This funding will be utilised to build on the Physical & Disability Participation program run by Mick Tomlinson at The Hangar.

In March of this year, VicHealth invited sports and recreation organisations, clubs, and community groups to apply for funding for projects that support children and young people (aged 0-25 years) and Victorians hardest hit by the impacts of coronavirus and the Victorian bushfires. Including those already facing greater barriers to reaching their full health potential because of circumstances such as their income, cultural background, physical ability, gender, age or where they live.

The funding TTV received will be directed towards paid coaches, purchasing equipment and marketing to increase participation and awareness of the program.

The Physical & Disability Participation Program at The Hangar is open to all para players, regardless of ability or classification. Whether you are Dani Di Toro training for the Paralympics or someone giving para table tennis a go for the first time, it’s an all-inclusive program that welcomes anyone. We hope with this funding the program will grow and continue to provide support for many of the wonderful para-athletes we have in Victoria.

“This VicHealth funding is a wonderful boost to TTV’s efforts to break down barriers to participation for those with a disability. The project at The Hangar provides a focal point for this important cohort and allows us to provide enhanced and on-going support.” Said TTV CEO, Ritchie Hinton.
