TTV High Performance Program Update #2
Published Wed 28 Aug 2019
Dear All,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write to you with details of the additions and improvement to the TTV High Performance program.
Full details are included in this Briefing Note, but I would like to draw your attention to several key changes:
- Appointment of Peter Tretinik as Coaching Lead;
- Inclusion of National Squad training (including National Squad coaches) with State training session time slot (Wed evening);
- Integration of MSAC facilities to Wed evening session – Swim Analysis Lab (aquatic resistance training), and multi-purpose exercise room for group PT;
- Addition of extra Sunday afternoon session for Juniors.
A final important note is the addition of a compulsory attendance component to enable players to be selected for the State (and therefore, National) squads.
Further details are included in the note, with different requirements for Seniors and Juniors. Note this only applies to Metro based players, not Regional/Country at this stage.
An amended version of By Law 10 dealing with State Teams and associated selection criteria, as approved by the TTV Board, is also attached for your attention. Paragraph 8 is the relevant passage.
The first session conducted under these new arrangements will be on Wed 18 September, which is the first of 12 weeks of HP training ahead of Christmas (dates are contained within the Briefing Note).
I look forward to seeing the Victorian Senior & Junior State Teams go from strength-to-strength as they benefit from high quality coaching, combined with state-of-the-art fitness facilities whose amenity will be maximized for table tennis specific outcomes.
TTV acknowledges that these are bold steps which represent a significant change to some, but believe that it is necessary to achieve our strategic objectives in the Profile and Performance areas of maintaining Victoria’s status as Australia’s leading table tennis state.
As we head towards Tokyo 2020, we ask that you embrace our vision and share in our boldness to keep pushing the boundaries in how we can support our elite players.
We would also like to take the opportunity to thank TTA, MSAC and the VIS who are all partners with TTV in this exciting phase of continuing to develop our high performance program which remains completely free of charge to all participants.
Kind Regards,
Ritchie Hinton
Chief Executive Officer
