It is with both sadness and gratitude that TTV advises of Ritchie Hinton’s decision to resign as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective November 5, 2021.

On announcing his resignation, Ritchie said:

“I am proud to have held the role of Chief Executive Officer at Table Tennis Victoria for almost 3 years.

“It has been wonderful to see the sport expand its footprint and develop in collaboration with our Affiliates and partners across the sport. I’m confident they’ll continue to achieve outstanding results for table tennis in Victoria and throughout Australia.

“My thanks to past and present Board Directors of TTV for their support and counsel. I look forward to seeing what’s next for the sport, and especially to how this talented set of Directors can drive TTV.

“A final thank you to the staff at TTV for their fantastic work and support, and to the Affiliates & Individual Members for embracing the many changes we’ve implemented for table tennis - your commitment to growing the sport is hugely impressive.”

Some of Ritchie’s highlights during his tenure at TTV include:

  • Leading the process for the development of ‘Our Future Now!’, TTV’s Strategic Plan 2019-2022 and over-seeing its application with rigour and discipline. Three key strategic pillars of our Strategic Plan and embedding the resulting initiatives throughout the organisation and within our partner organizations.
  • Developing the essential initiatives that underpin our strong commitment to delivering on the three strategic pillars of Profile, Performance and Participation.
  • Working with the Board to help streamline and professionalize governance and reporting throughout the organization.
  • Growing program delivery and educational support through development, support and implementation of initiatives including Spinneroos, Sporting Schools and the School Sport Victoria Primary School Cup.
  • Overseeing the growth of TTV staff from 3 to 5 permanent staff, with additional capability introduced in the areas of competition support, high performance, media & marketing.
  • Re-establishing TTV’s High Performance program in conjunction with the VIS.
  • Establishing key partnerships with the State Government representatives and agencies resulting in significant financial support of our programs and operations.
  • Providing strong leadership to the sport at National level through his presence and input to ‘all of sport’ discussions.
  • Steering the organization through the considerable challenges presented to table tennis as in indoor sport during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that TTV is well-positioned for 2022 and beyond.

Commenting on Ritchie’s departure, TTV Chair, Daniel Moloney, said:

Ritchie has been pivotal in continuing the growth of Table Tennis not only in Victoria, but at a national level. The ongoing initiatives and programs Ritchie has led and developed in marketing and participation of Table Tennis, especially in the digital and social media spaces, will be invaluable for our sport into the future.”

“The strong leadership and guidance shown by Ritchie in his 3 years as CEO ensures Table Tennis Victoria is in a strong and financially sustainable position as the sport seeks to rebound and move forward out of COVID.”

“Ritchie’s tenure with TTV has been very productive”.

“The Board will now take this opportunity to review the current position description of the CEO in conjunction with the Strategic Plan. The aim of this is to identify key strengths and qualities the board wants to attract in a new CEO. This will continue to build upon the great work of the TTV office and grow our sport into the future.”

TTV will continue to monitor Ritchie’s career with pride and excitement as he moves into a new role within the sports industry in Victoria – a final ‘thank you’ to Ritchie from all TTV, and on behalf of all Affiliates & Individual Members.

“On behalf of the Board, I wish Ritchie every success with his future endeavours”, said Board Chair, Daniel Moloney.
