At the 2021 Table Tennis Victoria AGM, we were delighted to appoint two new life members: Suzy Javor and Kerri Tepper.

Suzy Javor

Suzy Javor is arguably one of the greatest ever Australian table tennis players. Humble in victory and gracious on the rare occasions she experienced defeat, Javor’s career was both lengthy and exceptional at international, national, and state level. Known for her love of the game, commitment to training, and a steely determination, Javor’s record has stood the test of time.

Javor’s career highlights include, but are not limited to:
-    World Champion in Women’s Doubles at the World Youth Championships.
-    Bronze Medallist in Women’s Doubles at the 1953 World Championships.
-    2 x Hungarian Champion in Women’s Doubles, 1955 and 1956.
-    Gold Medallist in Women’s Singles at the Swiss Invitational.
-    2 x Maccabi Games Women’s Singles Champion.
-    10 x Australian Champion in Women’s Singles. Javor competed in the National Championships on 10 occasions between 1958-1970, meaning she remained undefeated in Women’s Singles.
-    8 x Australian Champion in Women’s Doubles. Javor played in 10 Women’s Doubles finals, winning 8 with 5 different partners.

Kerri Tepper

Kerri Tepper is regarded as one of the finest female table tennis players Australia has produced. Hailing from the small Victorian country town of Murtoa, at age 9 she became Victorian Closed U/10 Champion in 1976 - then went on to represent Australia at over 27 major international events from 1986 to 1997 including two Olympic Games.

Kerri was Chief Executive Officer of Table Tennis Victoria (1993 – 1996) and retired from international table tennis competition in 1997. She has continued her passionate commitment to sport and the Olympic movement through volunteer roles including Board positions with Table Tennis Victoria, the Victorian Olympic Council and the Victorian Institute of Sport.

Her career highlights include:
• Dual Olympian (Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992)
• 4 Commonwealth medals (1 silver, 3 bronze)
• 16 Oceania titles
• 17 Australian Open titles
• 7 Australian Closed titles
• First Australian woman to achieve a World or Asian ranking and first Australian woman to be ranked in World's top 100

Congratulations to both these worthwhile life members. Kerri was presented with her Life Membership award at the Vic Open Championships on Sunday 24 April and Suzy's Life Membership award will be presented to her in the coming weeks.
