Proposed change to TTV Constitution: Appointment of Chair & Deputy
Published Mon 04 Oct 2021
Dear Affiliates & Individual Members,
The TTV Board has recently discussed possible amendments to sections of the TTV Constitution which relate to the method via which a Chair & Deputy are elected.
In principle, the TTV Board has voted to approve these changes and seeks your feedback ahead of the AGM in 2022, at which any Special Resolution would need to be approved by 75% in order for the change to be implemented.
What is the proposed change?
Clarification of the process to appoint the Chair & Deputy of TTV Board.
The current practice is for these positions to be voted upon by the Affiliates at a General Meeting.
The amendment is to allow the Board Directors to select the Chair & Deputy from within their ranks after any Board elections that have taken place at an AGM.
A comparison of the existing wording and the proposed amended wording is attached.
Why do we need the proposed change?
The current wording is suggested as being inappropriate from a governance perspective, as well as being unwieldy to administer.
The proposed change is consistent with both the Sport Australia & Table Tennis Australia approach.
