New TTV Board Chair & Deputy Appointed

Published Fri 17 Sep 2021

Following TTV’s board meeting on Thursday, TTV advises of Jack Cyngler’s resignation from his position as Chair of the TTV Board.

TTV would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jack for his years of dedication and service to the TTV Board, and congratulate him on his contribution.

Jack’s long history and love for our sport is well known. His involvement in table tennis dates back more than five decades when he began his table tennis journey as a junior in 1969.

He has been on the TTV Board since 2015, and has served as Chair for the past three years overseeing many positive changes to the organisation, and helping to steer TTV through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have looked back at my association with TTV, or as it was previously known the VTTA,  with pride and note that my association goes back to 1969 as a junior player, having represented Victoria in 1970 and 1971.

As an administrator, my involvement goes back to at least 1993 when I acted as Honorary Solicitor to the VTTA, when Table Tennis great, Kerri Tepper was CEO,” Jack said, as he reflected on his involvement with our sport.

“More recently I joined the TTV board in 2015, and have been Chair for the past 3 years. My involvement with Maccabi Table Tennis Club (previously known as Hakoah) also goes back to 1969 and subsequently on its Board as Vice President for approximately 10 years, then as President for about 7 years.

“It’s certainly been a fun ride! I wish everyone all the best, and for TTV to thrive.”

TTV CEO, Ritchie Hinton, who began in his position during Jack’s tenure, said

“Jack’s commitment to the role of Chair has been whole-hearted. He has been prepared to address difficult issues head on, and never shied away from a challenge.

“His legal advice and commercial acumen have benefitted TTV significantly during his tenure.

“I would like to take the opportunity to personally thank Jack for the support he has shown me as CEO since I joined TTV in 2019.

“I’m sure all our members would join me in congratulating Jack on over 50 years’ commitment to the sport as a player and as an administrator, and wishing him all the best as he focuses on his family and business commitments.

We will no doubt see him around on the Veterans’ circuit – we know he won’t be able to stay away!”

Former Deputy Chair Daniel Moloney has taken on the role of TTV Board Chair.

Dan’s time on the Board began in 2020, following his time as Vice President of the Bendigo & Districts TTA and member of the Country Championships Committee. He works in local government as a planner in Regional Victoria, and is currently a member of Shepparton TTC.

“I am honoured to have stepped into the role of TTV Chair. I’d like to congratulate Jack on his term in the role, and look forward to building on the work that he, the Board and staff have done to date.

I’m particularly keen to work with our clubs to ensure their on-going health and growth, and to represent Victorian needs to TTA”, said Daniel Moloney.

Stepping into Dan’s previous position of Deputy Chair is Meredith Kelly.

Meredith joined the TTV Board in 2020 and has 20 years’ + experience in the sport sector, including over 16 years with Sport Australia where she is currently Sport Infrastructure Manager.

Commenting on her appointment as Deputy, she said:

“I am delighted to be appointed Deputy Chair of Table Tennis Victoria. I look forward to working with the new Chair, Daniel, the rest of the board and the broader table tennis community to continue driving important outcomes for our sport as identified in our strategic plan.

The attention table tennis generated through the wonderful results of our Olympic and Paralympic teams highlights the broad appeal of our sport.

We have a great opportunity to continue to build on this momentum once our community can get back to playing after COVID”.

Jack has also vacated his roles as Chair of the State Disciplinary Panel and Nominations Committee.

Further announcements regarding additional appointments to the TTV Board will made shortly.
