New Inductees to the Junior Hall of Fame

Table Tennis Victoria are proud to announce the induction of Finn Luu & Nicholas Lum into the TTV Junior Hall of Fame.
Both Finn & Nick have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication throughout their careers so far, making outstanding contributions to the sport at the state, national, and international levels.
Both players were humbled to be presented with their Hall of Fame pins and certificates last Friday after their National Squad Training Session at LOOPS Table Tennis.
“I would like to thank my parents, teammates, and friends, and especially my coaches” said Finn Luu reflecting on those who had played a pivotal role in his table tennis journey.
"I also would like to thank the Table Tennis Victoria community who have succeeded in developing the sport to become better and better," said Nicholas Lum.
Table Tennis Victoria thanks Finn and Nick for their continued contribution to the sport and wish them all the best as they head overseas to continue to compete in international tournaments.
Finn Luu Table Tennis Career Summary

Finn Luu started playing Table Tennis at the age of six, after being encouraged by his father Don who played at the Loops Table Tennis Club in Melbourne.

Finn’s first major event would come in 2013 at the NSW Junior Open where he won six out of his eight matchups, his junior career would take him across the world, participating already in five World Junior Championships as well as competing weekly in local, state and national events.

In 2019, Finn won his first Australian Junior National Championship, the following year he earned bronze in the Czech open, leading to his debut at the World Youth Championships in 2021

2022 came along and Finn was claiming multiple titles: the Oceania Junior and Men’s Doubles Championship alongside Nicholas Lum, in the same year also representing Australia at the Commonwealth games, reaching the bronze medal play-off in men’s doubles.

Finn continued his success in 2024 by winning the Oceania Table Tennis Championship. Then in 2024, Finn made his Olympic debut in Paris at just 18 years old, competing in both singles and team events.
Nicholas Lum Table Tennis Career Summary

Nicholas began competing in 2014 and quickly made his way up the ranks, playing over 200 events worldwide in his junior career.

In 2019 his breakout came, when he became the first non-European player to win the Janos Molnar Tournament in Hungary. In 2021, he secured gold in the under-17 division in the Italian and Slovak Republic legs of the tour, as well as a silver medal in Hungary. Nicholas also made it into the last 16 in the 2021 World Youth Championships in Portugal. His performance throughout the year would see him break into the top 10 of the Youth World Rankings for the first time in January 2022

Nicholas’ success earned him a spot in the national team for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. This made him the second youngest table tennis player to represent Australia at a Commonwealth Games since John Tawadrous, during the games, he just missed out on a medal in two events, in the bronze-medal playoff alongside Luu and mixed doubles with Min Hyung Jee.

In 2023 Nicholas started out with a major win at the Oceania Table Tennis Championship in the men’s doubles alongside Luu, also winning the under-19 Australian Table Tennis Championship hosted at Sydney Olympic Park. These two major wins excelled him to a career-high men’s world ranking of 31, also earning him Australia’s Junior Player of the Year for the third consecutive year.

In 2024, Nicholas made his Olympic debut at 19, competing in singles, mixed doubles, and team events. Reaching the last 64 in singles and last 16 in mixed doubles.
The Induction of Luu & Lum into the TTV Junior Hall of Fame is a testament to their hard work, dedication and achievements so far in table tennis. Their ongoing journey serves as an inspiration for players not only in Victoria, but across the country, and their legacy will continue to shape the bright future of Australian Table tennis!
