On December 8th-9th LOOPS table tennis club hosted their first ever Pingpongathon, a 24-hour table tennis event to raise money to fight human trafficking and slavery in South-East Asia.
Kicking off at 5:00 pm on the Friday night, the LOOPS community began play in high spirits as the event began.
As the night progressed, David from the Pingpongathon organisation challenged the participants to break the Pingpongathon records, all of which receive additional donations to their group fundraising page.
To begin, the around the world record was broken with over 600 consecutive shots made in a row.
Throughout the night all of the other records were broken including the longest rally with no table, the longest rally with your non-dominant hand, the longest doubles rally, the longest solo rally with 4000 consecutive shots, and most impressively the longest rally to self with over 10,100 shots recorded consecutively at 4:00 am.
All of these records being broken led to a $2,100 angel donation bringing the money raised $8200.
A massive shoutout goes out to all the individuals who took part throughout the night and the full 24 hours including but not limited to Simon Gerarda, Raj Datta, Rishabh Bhaskaracharya, Aaron Nguyen, Andrew Rozsival, Thej Vinodh, Leonardo Nguyen, Olivia Green.
The tables were constantly occupied for the full 24 hours.
A huge congratulations goes out to everyone who took part in the event to make it an enjoyable end of year celebration, and to raise money for a great cause.
