High Performance program update
Published Mon 19 Aug 2019
We have reached the end of the first block of the TTV High Performance (HP) program, which was a key initiative arising out of the TTV 2019-2022 Strategic Plan 'Our Future Now'.
The program forms a key component of our 'Performance' pillar.
After a strong start, we saw a resurgence of numbers in July. We have seen 13 coaches, and 37 players attend the inaugural block of training, including many national representative players.
The program focused on refining existing techniques, developing new ones and progression in game development.
The 2019 Junior Nationals Championships saw the team collectively win one gold, five silver and one bronze, plus an assortment of individual medals.
Whilst delighted with this start, TTV are always seeking to improve, and have therefore endeavoured to incorporate feedback from various stakeholders into the next block of training.
This will begin after the mid-season break on Wednesday 18 September, and will include changes such as:
- inclusion of National Squad sessions, providing greater access to and connection with national squad players and coaches, including National Able-Bodied Coach, John Murphy;
- appointment of a TTV State HP Coaching Lead - Peter Tretinik;
- future addition of an extra Sunday junior session to improve access to our emerging next generation of talent.
Full details of the next block of training will be provided shortly, including the selection process.
We look forward to working with the table tennis community to further cement Victoria's position as the best performing table tennis state in Australia.
