Fast Five With Board Director - Paul Healey
Published Mon 02 Nov 2020
2020 has been tough year for sport and for table tennis. With no tournaments or events for the majority of the year the Table Tennis Victoria staff and board have not had many opportunities to attend events and interact with our members.
We have taken this chance to ask our team and board five fast questions to get to know them a little better, what their goals for table tennis are and some interesting things you may not have known about them.
This week we get to know one of our Elected Director's Paul Healey.
1 - Can you tell me a bit about your background, personally, professionally and within table tennis / sport?
"I am married with two adult children and three grand-children (so far). Professionally, I am a chief Financial Officer, a Non-Executive Director and an Executive Coach. I am a table tennis tragic and have been playing for over 30 years."
2 - How long have you been on the board and what made you want to join the TTV board in the first place?
"I joined the TTV board in February 2018 to use my skills and experience to grow the sport I love. I provide strong strategy, financial management and risk support to the Board."
3 - What are your goals or hopes for your time as a board member of TTV?
"My goal is to raise the professionalism of the sport at all levels. I believe there is enormous potential to increase the participation in the sport of table tennis in new and exciting ways while retaining our unique traditions."
4 - What do you find rewarding and challenging about serving on the board of an SSO?
"It is great to work with a wide variety of volunteers all committed to growing our sport."
5 - Is there anything you would like to communicate to the members or let them know through this article?
"I am really looking forward to playing again at Croydon and seeing again our regular players. There is a limit to how much I can practice in my own small garage."
