Farewell message - CEO Dennis Makaling

Published Thu 24 Jan 2019

To all our affiliates and members,

Every journey comes to an end, and my journey with Table Tennis Victoria has now ended. My past three and a half years with TTV has been a great learning experience and a very enjoyable one. I’ve been involved in our sport for nearly forty years coming from grassroots level to elite level as a player. Many people have known me from when I was a junior player until now and I have met many other new members throughout my CEO stint. I met and visited many of our regional affiliates which I thoroughly enjoyed and I believed was an important part of my role.

My personal achievements over the last three and a half years has been finishing 2018 with an all time record of 4570 members, accreditation of more than 200 coaches, development of programs that provided inclusion which in turn increased participation in more females, hospital patients, multi-cultural/ethnic groups and seniors, higher exposure in social media and greater awareness of our sport in the state, creation of state team training and ensuring that TTV has not made any financial losses.

In saying this, I believe that I’m leaving TTV in a very positive state and have no doubt that the potential to grow bigger and better lies ahead. A new Strategic Plan is currently in the process of being created and having a new CEO to have a strong input and be the driver to achieve the key performance indicators from that Strategic Plan is good timing.

So I personally thank all the past and current board directors that I’ve worked with, my staff that’s been a valuable help for me in the office, all our affiliates and their members, coaches, volunteers, officials and all the stakeholders I’ve worked with. Keep supporting each other and always believe that our sport is a great one to be involved in.

Kind Regards,

Dennis Makaling

Chief Executive Officer
