COVID-19 Update - TTV 'COVID-Safe' Principles
Published Tue 08 Mar 2022
Update 8 March 2022
Face mask requirements
• Face masks are still required in some settings (unless an exemption applies):
o hospitality workers must wear a mask when working indoors in an area accessible to the public (for example, customer service staff or staff cleaning the front area of a cafe)
o retail workers such as supermarkets, clothing stores, hair, and personal care must wear a face mask indoors in public areas.
• Face masks are recommended for other sectors when workers are serving or facing the public, such as a concierge in an office building or workers at reception interacting with the public.
• Face masks are not required when staff are outdoors or in indoor areas not accessible by the public such as kitchens, or staff only areas (for example, back of house).
• It is also strongly recommended to wear a mask if you can’t physically distance, have any COVID-19 symptoms or are with people who may be vulnerable to COVID-19.
• Employers must take reasonable steps to ensure that all workers carry a face mask with them when at work.
This information can be found on the Coronavirus Victoria website and we understand it to mean that facemasks are recommended for indoor sport but not mandatory.
Density Quotient
There is no density quotient for indoor sport.
Checking COVID vaccination status
Affiliates operating under Physical Recreation guidance: A COVID Check-in Marshal must ensure patrons check-in via the Service Victoria app and that customers over 18 years show evidence of their vaccination status or valid medical exemption.
Affiliates operating under Community Sport guidance: If the space is being operated only for the purpose of community sport, participants, spectators and workers (including volunteers), are excluded from the vaccination requirement.
COVIDSafe Plans
Table Tennis Victoria affiliates must have a COVIDSafe Plan. The COVIDSafe Plan supports a affiliates to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and should be regularly reviewed to ensure it is current. The latest guidance on this can be found on the Vic Gov Covid Safe Plan with an accessible version which you can adopt.
We are working on updating our own Table Tennis Victoria website to reflect the latest changes but wanted to ensure we sent this information out to our community first.
If you have further questions, the best place to find answers on the Coronavirus Victoria website: Sport, exercise and physical recreation services sector guidance.
Update 3 November 2021
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has determined that Victoria is now able to move forward in opening up and more restrictions have fallen away.
The directions are issued by Victoria’s Chief Health Officer to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and keep Victorians safe.
The latest Directions giving effect to the above settings were published at 6:00pm, Friday 29 October, with clarification provided on Wednesday 3 November by Sport & Recreation Victoria.
The relevant Directions are the Open Premise Directions, the Stay Safe Directions, and the Mandatory Vaccination Directions for workers/facilities (for some settings).
Importantly, certain activity conducted under the auspices of Table Tennis Victoria (i.e., by TTV itself, or its Affiliates) is now categorised as community sport. The relevance of this is that community sport is now exempt from the requirement to be fully vaccinated, subject to the conditions laid out in the attached document – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
