COVID-19 Update - Recent Changes to Victorian Restrictions

Published Mon 29 Mar 2021

Following last weeks’ announcement from the Victorian State Government, changes to Victorian COVID-19 restrictions came into effect at 6pm Friday March 26, 2021.

We want to let all Members and Affiliates know that the guidelines regarding community sport (i.e. table tennis) remain mostly unchanged. A full table of changes can be found HERE.

The key changes for TTV Members and Affiliates regard

  • venue density limits;
  • requirement for venues to keep electronic records through the Services Victoria app or a government API-linked digital system.

The density limit for indoor physical recreation and community sport has been relaxed from 1 person per 4sqm to 1 person per 2sqm. We remind Clubs/Associations that this density limit also includes the size of the court.

For example, 2 standard courts of 50sqm each = 100sqm, but can still only accommodate 4-8 people in total (i.e. singles & doubles matches on each table), not 50 people (100 sqm divided by 2 people per sqm = 50 people).

Your specific space needs to be taken into account when making relevant calculations.

The use of a mandated electronic record keeping system which is now the Services Victoria app (or a similar government linked application or program) is now obligatory. The use of non-government websites and systems such as RevSport is no longer acceptable. Paper-based record keeping is only permitted for those who do not have access to a mobile device, and should not be the only option available.

A 28-day compliance amnesty is active from March 26.
