Bourne to Play
Published Fri 21 Oct 2022
Bourne Local Market took over a disused building in Collingwood before it gets demolished with a dream to turn it into a creative oasis for all the family to enjoy and trade for small businesses. The event not only is an artisan market now but includes A roller disco, Car shows, BMX exhibitions, street- art graffiti gallery and Free Community Ping-Pong from Melbourne Made Table Tennis Manufacturing Business 'Pongo'.
Jack from Pongo said ''it's great to support these community initiatives, Victoria had such a harsh lockdown and we love nothing more than taking our table tennis tables out to the community for people to play and enjoy!"
"Table tennis became a special ingredient to the project as it created a space for memories, engagement, and laughter, Fathers and sons lovingly bonded and friends found a new love for the game," said Dean, Founder of Bourne Local Markets.
"It was wonderful to watch the enjoyment it gave everyone and witness all being in the moment. I like to think of Bourne local as an adult community centre and the inclusion of the Pongo Ping Pong tables brought this vision into fruition."
"Pongo gave us an amazing opportunity to be able to share their magical tables with the community. Over the 3 events so far with an attendance of over 5000 with over 500 patrons of all ages stop and play at the tables. Some for the very first time, it's been amazing."
Table Tennis Victoria is proud to have Pongo as a partner. More information on Pongo's next community activation can be found by visiting: https://www.pongo.world/
