Australian Junior Championships 2017 Information

2017 AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
INFORMATION BULLETIN 1
This Bulletin is for the information of parents and players selected into the Junior State Team and President teams for the 2017 Australian Junior Championships.
DATE
The 2017 Championships will be held in Hobart (Tasmania) from Saturday, 8 July to Saturday, 15 July 2017.
Note the team shall leave on Saturday morning [8 July 2017] and return on Sunday morning [16 July 2017].
JUNIOR AVAILABILITY FORM
To participate as a member of the State team, each player MUST complete a Junior Availability Form. The form is now available on the website.
This form must be forwarded to TTV no later than 31 March 2017.
VICTORIAN TOURNAMENTS
To be eligible for selection in a State team, a player must have played a minimum number of tournaments [generally at least 50% of tournaments in a selection period].
The TTV calendar for 2017 is now released – it the responsibility of each player to ensure he/she satisfies the eligibility requirements.
TEAM MANAGER
The Team Manager appointed is Mr Brett Sonnet (Chair, TTV).
The Assistant Team Manager is Mr Alex Morella (TTV Administration Officer).
TEAM COACHES
Team Coaches to be announced at the time of selection of teams. Preference shall be given to coaches who are accredited and/or highly ranked as players.
TRAVEL AND STAY WITH STATE TEAM
Unless provided an exemption by the Team Manager [which shall only be granted in exceptional circumstances], all players are required to travel with the State Team and reside at the selected accommodation (see below for details).
At all times during the Championships, players remain under the jurisdiction of the Team Manager.
FLIGHTS
The Team Management and players shall travel to Hobart and return to Melbourne on the following flights:
To Hobart – Saturday, 8 July 2017 – Qantas Flight 1501 departing Melb at 8.15 am
Return to Melbourne – Sunday, 16 July 2017 – Qantas Flight 1504 arriving Melb at 1.15 pm
Unlike previous years, players do not have a choice as to travel – players are expected to travel with the State Team.
TTV has already made a group booking for 60 persons on the above flights.
ACCOMMODATION
The State Team shall stay at the following resorts:
- Woolmers Hotel Apartments – 123-127 Sandy Bay Rd Hobart
[8 x Twin Rooms – U/18 players]
- St Ives Motel & Apartments – 67 St Georges Terrace Battery Point
[12 x Twin Rooms & 6 x 2 Bedroom Apartments – U/13 & U/15 players]
Please note that the venues of Woolmers and St Ives are 450 metres walking distance apart or 2 minutes by car.
Where practicable, players in teams shall be billeted together.
Team Management shall also be billeted at both accommodations in order to provide adequate supervision.
TTV encourages all parents of players attending the Championships to select either of these accommodation venues if practicable.
TTV has a booking at both venues which can cater for up to 64 persons – any excess after team selection shall be made available to parents.
PLAYING VENUE
Details shall be released as soon as available.
TRAVEL
Table Tennis Victoria has booked 3 shuttle buses for the duration of the Championships.
Team Management shall ensure that all players arrive at the playing venue on time for team and individual events.
OPENING CEREMONY
The Opening Ceremony, Team Photographs and Practice shall be conducted on Saturday, 8 July 2016. Details to be provided at a later date.
CLOSING FUNCTION
Team Management and all players are required to attend the Closing Function. Details to be provided at a later date.
UNIFORMS
All State Team players must ensure they have the correct uniform to participate in the Opening Ceremony and the Teams event. If you have any queries, please contact Alex Morella at info@tabletennisvic.org.au
TRAINING SESSION
There is a compulsory Junior State Team training session to be held at MSAC on Sunday, 21 May 2017. All players are expected to attend.
The session will be held from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm.
FINAL COSTS
To be released in after selection of teams.
