Affiliates & Members Update

Published Thu 23 Apr 2020

On behalf of Table Tennis Victoria’s Board of Management and Staff Members, I wish to express our concern to the Table Tennis community who are facing challenges as a consequence of COVID-19.

This is an unprecedented time and the scale of the impact that COVID-19 will have on the sport and recreation industry is unknown. What we do know is how important it is to follow the direction of Federal and State Governments during this public health and economic threat.

Table Tennis Victoria recognises the impact this event is having on our Table Tennis community and the challenges it places upon our affiliated clubs and venues. Accordingly, we continue to work with the Victorian Government, VicSport and Table Tennis Australia in seeking to reduce the impact on members this year and beyond.

Should you have any questions, or wish to further discuss your club or association’s circumstances, please feel free to contact us. Table Tennis Victoria will endeavour to assist where possible.

Services – JobKeeper Payment

The Government have released more funding to help businesses keep their employees. In summary, the payment is $1,500 (before tax) per fortnight for each employee (FT, PT and Casual).

Commencing fortnight 30/03/20-12/04/20, until fortnight 14/09/20-27/09/20, where an eligible employer maintains employment of eligible employees, the government will fund $1,500 per fortnight, per eligible employee. The employee must receive a minimum payment of $1,500 per fortnight (pre-tax).

Applications opened on the 20th April 2020. It is our advice to wait for confirmation of a successful application before paying any staff any form of JobKeeper funding.

Table Tennis Victoria strongly suggests that Table Tennis organisations seek their own financial advice on this matter.
