2025 S-Trend Victorian Open Championships Review

The 2025 S-Trend Victorian Open Championships lit up the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium on April 5-6 with an unforgettable display of skill & passion. The event drew an impressive 350 entries from across the state, cementing its reputation as one of the premier table tennis tournaments in Australia. 

Opening the tournament alongside Latrobe City Mayor Dale Harriman, TTV Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Pitson expressed her enthusiasm for the event. "The Victorian Open is a highlight of the TTV calendar, and this year was no exception. The energy and sheer talent on display truly showcase the best of our sport," Pitson added. 

The competition featured players across various divisions, with the Men’s, Women’s, and Para Open categories drawing particular attention. Spectators were treated to breathtaking rallies and masterful strategies on the state-of-the-art taraflex flooring of the show courts, adding a professional touch to the event's ambiance. 

In the Men’s Open, Dillon Chambers emerged victorious, demonstrating unwavering focus and precision to clinch the title. Reflecting on his performance, Chambers remarked, "I got off to a good start and really utilised my serve in this match to gain the edge.” In a 6-set thriller against Lin Ma, Dillon rallied to ultimately win the match 4-2. 

Yangzi Liu claimed the Women’s Open title with her exceptional skill and composure under pressure. Her dominance throughout the tournament highlighted her status as one of the sport’s brightest stars, defeating Sanaya Buddhadasa in the final 4-0. 

The Para Open showcased the top quality of our Para athletes, with Chris Addis taking the top spot. Sharing a few thoughts with Jenny Langridge following the win, Chris added thatits good to see that my hard work in training is paying off as this win means a lot to me.” Chris was able to take home victory in the final, defeating Sam Rizkalla 3-2 in a close match.

Beyond the thrilling matches, the event was enhanced by live streaming throughout the weekend thanks to our partners at SportVot, allowing fans from afar to experience the excitement. The professional-grade taraflex flooring on the show courts ensured top-notch playing conditions, while Judy James photography captured stunning moments to preserve the event’s memories. We were also fortunate to have our partners from Affordable Table Tennis in attendance to provide players with the opportunity to upgrade their gear and equipment.  

We would like to thank the team from Latrobe City and Destination Gippsland for always providing amazing support and being great hosts for all of our tournaments at Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium.
