2024 Victorian Country Championships Preview
Published Thu 06 Jun 2024
The anticipation is palpable as the Victorian Country Championships in Table Tennis gears up for its 72nd edition, promising three days of intense competition and camaraderie on the King’s Birthday Weekend.
The Victorian Country Championships, nicknamed ‘Country Week’, is adored by Victorian Table Tennis players for the fun nature and team environment with the marquee event having some of the best and most-loved memories amongst TTV’s yearly tournaments.
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Darren Howe, shared that Council is thrilled to welcome visitors back for the event after the success of hosting it in 2023.
“This is the second year of an eight-year agreement that will see Latrobe City host the Country Championship in June until 2030. Last year, the event attracted over 200 participants and numerous spectators."
"This is wonderful for our region because it draws in visitors from across the state, giving our hospitality and accommodation businesses a rewarding boost. It also gives table tennis players from Latrobe City the opportunity to compete in a high calibre competition locally."
Commenting on the significance of this year's championship, CEO Andrew Weiss expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "The Victorian Country Championships represent the pinnacle of table tennis in regional Victoria. It is a celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and community spirit. We're thrilled to return to the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium for the second year running, offering players and spectators alike an unforgettable experience."
