The 2024 Australian Veterans Nationals Table Tennis Championships are poised to be one of the standout events on the Australian table tennis calendar, and Table Tennis Victoria (TTV) is excited to support the tournament as it moves to a new and thrilling location. From September 14th-21st, 2024, the Silverdome in Launceston, Tasmania, will host the prestigious championships, bringing together top veteran players from across the nation for a week of intense competition. 

The tournament will feature multiple age divisions, with players ranging from 30 to over 80 years old, showcasing the incredible skill, dedication, and passion within the veteran table tennis community. With more than 400 participants expected to compete, the 2024 Veterans Nationals promise to deliver thrilling matches, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. 

Andrew Weiss, CEO of Table Tennis Victoria, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming championships in Launceston. "We’re incredibly excited to see the Australian Veterans Nationals head to Tasmania. It’s an excellent opportunity to showcase the breadth of talent within our veteran ranks in a fresh and unique setting. Launceston is known for its warm hospitality and passion for sport, and the Silverdome is a fantastic venue that will elevate this prestigious event." 

Weiss continued, "This tournament is about more than just competition – it’s a celebration of table tennis as a lifelong sport. The level of skill and sportsmanship you see from these players is remarkable. We’re thrilled to support such a high-calibre event, and I’m confident that this year’s edition will be one of the best yet."  

While the event is taking place in Tasmania, the Victorian table tennis community is buzzing with anticipation. Many local Victorian players will be making the journey to Launceston, eager to test their skills against Australia’s best veteran athletes. Our strong Victorian contingent is also being organised by State Team Manager Frank Pearce throughout the teams events. 

"We’re looking forward to seeing our Victorian players compete on the national stage, even though this year’s event is being held outside of our home state. It’s always a joy to see players push themselves and each other to new heights, and I have no doubt our players will make Victoria proud," Weiss commented.
