The 2023 Victorian Closed Veterans Championships is almost upon us.

The Closed Veterans Championship is taking place this Saturday, the 15^th of July at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatics Centre, with play starting at 9:00 am.

The tournament is a great opportunity following the Ballarat Veterans Open for our veterans to compete and have the spotlight once again. Following on from a very busy week at nationals for all the seniors, youth, junior & para-athletes we are back at MSAC once again for the Victorian circuit.

Some of the best veterans will be on show across the day, many of whom are top of the rankings in their respective age categories including the likes of Simon Johnson, Lydia Liu, Adrien Shnier, Brian Berry, Debbie Wilson, Mikhail Geller, Jeanne Strong, Daisy O’Bryan, Bob Bowler and Igor Klaf.

They all will have some tough competition across the day, with the other veterans keen to take some wins across their age groups.

Table Tennis Victoria CEO Gen Dohrmann is excited to see the veterans back competing at MSAC again in 2023.

“It’s fantastic to see a large number of entrants for the Victorian Closed Veterans.”

“It’s a pivotal tournament to play in, in terms of Veteran State Team selection and I’m sure players will be eager to show off their skills, in hopes of being selected.”

“We have organised for the whole of stadium 4 and grandstand viewing for the day, to provide a more welcoming and comfortable experience for all who wish to watch a great day of table tennis.”

An important note to all players who are playing across the day.

TTV will be running a uniform sizing day for all veterans who are wanting to be a part of the Veterans Nationals teams. This is especially important for those who have put in their availability for the Nationals and who do not have uniform.

TTV have created an online booking system for you to book in your time slot, that fits in between your matches that are being played across the day.

This will be done at the TTV office, outside of Stadium 5 and come and see Oscar to get your uniform sizing complete.
