2023 Croydon Masters Open Preview

The month of March is here and so is the Croydon Masters Open, taking place this weekend at the Kilsyth International Table Tennis Stadium March 11-13.
The Veterans will commence play with a record 141 entries, with those numbers not being seen since pre-covid-19 times.
There will be some new faces on the day with Quynh Cottrell making her first appearance, coming all the way from Traralgon to compete and Leigh Curson making a return to the tournament circuit.
Simon Johnson will be eager to carry his form from the Geelong Open into Croydon Masters while Igor Klaf, Vicki Carruthers, Belinda Strong and Jeff Dever will provide some entertaining matches throughout the day.

On Sunday, the Juniors will hit the tables with a record high number of entrants, which also includes entries from Townsville and South Australia.
Connie Psihogios is the one to keep an eye on as she’ll be looking to add to her medal cabinet after her successful outing in Geelong.
Yousef Hassan, Alice Xia and Brian Tesler will all be looking for a successful tournament and will ensure to provide some high-quality matches across the day.

To round off the long weekend on Monday, are the seniors with Jian Fang Lay the headline player looking to make an impact with Jasmine Chow continuing her comeback to table tennis.
Other notable entrants include Qian Yang, Sanish Ambekar and Lina Lei who will all be looking to have strong performances while also having entrants from Townsville and New Zealand.

"We are really happy to see such big numbers for the tournament with 395 entrants over the 3 days and possibly a record high number of entries for a Junior only tournament in Victoria”, said Croydon Tournament Director Greg Bristowe.
“There are players not only coming from all around Victoria, but we have players travelling from South Australia, Townsville, & New Zealand”.
“We will be using 29 courts for the Junior Tournament, and we wish to thank Kilsyth Basketball Stadium for allowing us to set up the extra tables in their basketball courts".
Entry is free for all spectators with play kicking off at 9:00am on Saturday and Monday with an 8:30am start on Sunday for the juniors.
