The tournaments just keep on rolling!
The Ballarat Senior/Junior open is taking place this weekend at the Ballarat Table Tennis Centre March 25-26.
The Seniors will commence play with 63 entries, in comparison to the 46 seen in 2021, a pleasant spike in entrants for this year.
In a massive boost for the tournament, is the entry of 3-time Paralympic, 2-time Olympian and Commonwealth Games Gold medal winner Melissa Tapper.
“I’m excited to be playing my first Victorian Tournament for the year after a warmup event in Townsville earlier this month,” said Tapper.
“It’s a great opportunity to see where I’m at as I begin to build towards Paris next year”.
There are many players who are looking for strong performances as they push their cases for Victorian State team selection, including the likes of Rocky Chen, Yugangh Zende and Ellen Walker.

On Sunday, the Juniors will hit the tables with 139 entries, a massive spike from the 2021 totals of 80.
There will be some fresh faces to keep an eye on, with Alex Huang, the top seed entering the tournament and Kavyaa Madaan, ranked number one last year will be both looking for strong performances across the weekend.
Other young talent to watch out for is Omar Thabet, Swetha Sundaresan and Audrey Tang, who is always a pleasure watch and have competing on the state tournament circuit.

Play begins at 9:00am on both days and is free entry for anyone who wishes to watch some exciting table tennis.
