Yugandh Zende and Ellen Walker Take Out the 2022 Yarrawonga Senior Championships

The 2022 Yarrawonga Senior and Junior Open Championships were in action last weekend September 20-21. Croydon’s Yugandh Zende and Dandenong’s Ellen Walker claimed the Open Seniors titles whilst plenty of Victorian juniors made their way to Yarrawonga to provide yet another fantastic junior event for the year.
Zende comfortably made it through his group stage matches without dropping a set. In a tough first match of the finals he came back from 1-3 down against young Max Geering to win their seven set battle. He went on to claim 4-0 and 4-1 victories in his next two matches to win the Championship.
Walker was equally as impressive in the Open Women’s division. Winning all three of her matches 4-0 to be crowned the 2022 Champion.
In the Under 21 Men’s singles, Mornington’s Charlie Hollow defeated Coburg’s Raymond Myrteza in a five set final while Coburg’s Zachary Anstey took out the Twenties Men’s category.
In Junior Tournament, Aiden You (Dandenong) and Croydon’s Alyssa Zhang won the U/11’s titles, both winning their final matches in straight sets. You and Zhang also both added the U/13 title’s to their hauls from the weekend.
Dandenong’s Eric Luk defeated Albury’s Max Geering in the U/17 Boy’s Singles, although Geering did go on to add the U/19 Boy’s title to his achievements list. Luk also won the U/15 Boys Singles, defeating Levi Geering in a six-set final. Emma Dunn won all three of her matches to win the U/15 Girl’s Singles.
Geelong’s Bethany Lindorff took out the U/17 and U/19 Girl’s titles in an impressive display. Bethany also teamed up with her sister Charlotte to win the Junior Girls Doubles event. Levi Geering and Charlie Hollow paired up to take the win in the Junior Boys Doubles event.
The next tournament up on the Table Tennis Victoria State Tournament Circuit are the 2022 Mornington Frankston Open Championships and 2022 S-Trend Victorian Closed Championships. More information here
