2022 TTV Awards Finalists - St Kilda Cricket TTC Affiliate of the Year

Published Mon 09 Jan 2023

Table Tennis Victoria is excited to announce and congratulate our 2022 revolutioniseSPORT TTV Award finalists.

The four finalists for the St Kilda Cricket TTC Affiliate of the Year Award have been decided based on nominations received from the community and put forward by the TTV office.

The St Kilda Cricket Table Tennis Club Award for Affiliate of the Year is named after the oldest Club in Victoria, St Kilda Cricket Table Tennis Club, an award which recognises the longstanding contributions made by St Kilda Cricket Table Tennis Club to the sport of table tennis in Victoria.

Congratulations to our finalists below:

Croydon & Districts Table Tennis Association

Established in 1957 with one of the highest membership numbers in the state, in 2022 Croydon & Districts Table Tennis Association successfully hosted the 2022 Metro Championships and the Croydon Masters over the Labour Day long weekend.

The Association also continued to grow their pennant schedule with competitions happening on Monday (featuring the All Stars competition), Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This strong pennant environment led to huge numbers of CDTTA players taking part at TTV tournaments around Victoria at all levels throughout the year.

Highlights of 2022 included seeing the success of Croydon & Districts Table Tennis Association members Dillon Chambers and Nicholas Lum with them both taking part in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Sunshine & District Table Tennis Association

Sunshine & District Table Tennis Association has had a great 2022 with the club growing its membership and participation whilst building on its strong culture of a community-based club that makes its members feel part of a family that plays hard but can have a laugh afterwards, with a sense of encouragement and respect.

This culture has underpinned success in more juniors playing in our senior pennant, old players returning from other clubs, strong emergency players filling in from other clubs, expansion to two pennant nights and healthy entries for club championship. In addition the clubs has full committee membership, a strong financial position, great collaboration with the Vietnamese Table Tennis Association and commenced discussions with local councillors on feasibility of having their own facility. In the post COVID world, the club has been able to build on the extra demand for accessible and low-cost ways to improve physical and mental wellbeing as well as more competitive play.

Ballarat Table Tennis Club

2022 was a big year for Ballarat Table Tennis Club. The club resumed a full year of group coaching sessions and included the incorporation of all abilities athletes. The club also made important strides in the implementation of policies and procedures to align with TTV goals and strategies. This included the adoption of strategies to diversify the club, new sessions for play, growth of schools usage and more community awareness through come and try days.

Mornington Peninsula & Frankston City Table Tennis Association

Mornington Peninsula & Frankston City Table Tennis Association (MFTTA) is an active affiliate with passion to grow Table Tennis as a sport and grow our club. In 2022 MFTTA presented on their programs at the affiliates forum to help other affiliates meet challenges and to continue to grow Table Tennis in Victoria. This resulted in post forum meetings with Werribee about a new venue and Dandenong about running specific programs to increase numbers and venue capacity.

For the first time in club history the MFTTA board has more females with a 60/40 gender balance and a 50/50 split at executive level. This is a direct result of our Females in Table Tennis program. 2022 also provided the foundation for the development of the state’s first LGBTQ+ community Table Tennis program at MFTTA  which will launch in 2023 and includes hosting the annual State LGBTQ+ Cup in 2023. MFTTA is committed to growing Table Tennis in Victoria as well as our club, including collaborating with other affiliates to achieve the same outcomes.

All finalists and winners will be recognised and celebrated at the 2022 revolutioniseSPORT TTV Awards Soiree at Ballers Clubhouse on Saturday 1 April 2023 following the 2022 AGM. Registration for this event will open later this month.
