2022 TTV Awards Finalists - Guggenheim Volunteer/Administrator of the Year

Published Fri 06 Jan 2023

Table Tennis Victoria is pleased to announce and congratulate our 2022 revolutioniseSPORT TTV Award finalists.

The four finalists for the Guggenheim Volunteer/Administrator of the Year Award have been decided based on nominations received from the community and put forward by the TTV office.

The Guggenheim Award for the Volunteer/Administrator of the Year is named after Joan Guggenheim recognising the contribution made by Joan Guggenheim to the sport of table tennis in Victoria

Congratulations to our finalists below:

Alan Trang – Sunshine & District Table Tennis Association

Alan Trang has been part of the Sunshine & District Table Tennis Association since 2009 and a committee member since 2015, occupying the role of Treasurer. During his time as Treasurer, the club’s finances have grown with very strong cashflows and the ability to financially contribute to any new facility proposals. This has allowed the club to reinvest back to the members with highly subsidised entry fees for the weekly pennant, club championships and coaching programs.

Alan also gets involved in the operational side of the club and provides strong support to the President and committee. His love for the game and his fierce loyalty to the members is evident every week when he runs the Monday and Wednesday pennant - single-handedly fielding queries from players, handling requests for emergency fill-ins, acting as go-between for other members, handling disputes and cleaning up at the end of the night.

Adam Pegg – Ballarat Table Tennis Club

Adam works as the Centre Manager for Ballarat organising the club’s events, pennant and tournaments as well as taking care of the administration duties including membership, insurance and ensures the club engages with TTV and TTA in a productive way. Adam is a phenomenal administrator not just for the Ballarat Table Tennis Club but for Table Tennis Victoria as well.

During 2022 Adam has volunteered his time at numerous TTV State Tournaments assisting with anything from administration, entries, scores and is a newly minted State Umpire.  Adam has also  been a State Selector for 2 years, serving as the Chair of the State Selection Panel in 2022.

Sally Culley – Mornington Peninsula and Frankston City Table Tennis Association

Sally Cully has been involved with MFTTA for approximately 10 years as a player and 5 years as coach, general board member, coach coordinator and FITT (Females in Table Tennis) program leader. Through the FITT program, 90% of attendees have progressed to evening competitions and female numbers have grown substantially. Through the program, MFTTA has also been able to recruit females for upcoming coaching courses and join the Board. The club is proud to announce that for the first time, they have a 60/40 female to male ratio on the board and a 50/50 split at executive level. This all started from FITT and Sally's drive to increase female participation.

Greg Robbins – Greater Dandenong Table Tennis Association

Greg is a critical member of the Greater Dandenong Table Tennis Association Board, which was voted in to assume control of the Association following years of deteriorating finances and standards. Greg is an excellent accountant and his acumen and wisdom have been instrumental in steering the Association into a sound financial position. This has been especially critical while working with the local Council to secure a new centre and exploring options that are not Council-provided, in an effort to retain full control over our activities and hours of operation.

Greg is an invaluable asset to GDTTA, especially in 2022, when the President has been overseas. He constantly proposes useful ideas and the Association has made significant improvements as a result.

All finalists and winners will be recognised and celebrated at the 2022 revolutioniseSPORT TTV Awards Soiree at Ballers Clubhouse on Saturday 1 April 2023 following the 2022 AGM. Registration for this event will open later this month.
