Dear Affiliates & Individual Members,

Please read the following information which contains important information relating to tournament and event activity for the remainder of 2021:

Country Championships

It is with regret that TTV has accepted the recommendation of the Country Championships Committee to cancel the 2021 Victorian Country Championships*.

A survey recently distributed to participants has indicated that only 12.5% of those usually in attendance could positively confirm their involvement in a December event.

Combined with the significant uncertainty regarding the conditions under which participants would be able to attend, such as venue capacity, vaccination status, and the threat of LGA-specific lockdowns, TTV has concluded that the event is not viable this year.

TTV is very aware that the next version of the event will represent the 70^th anniversary of the Country Championships, and is keen for such a significant milestone to be enjoyed by as many participants as possible.

The 2022 event is scheduled in its usual Queen’s Birthday weekend slot in June at Albert Park.

Albury/Wodonga & Traralgon events

The Albury Wodonga Veterans event scheduled for November 27/28 and the Traralgon Junior/Senior event scheduled for December 4 have also been cancelled.

Replacement events

TTV understands how disappointing the cancellation of these events is, particularly for Country Affiliates and their Individual Members.

With that in mind, whilst still working through details and logistics, TTV is hoping to replace these cancelled events with a series of informal regional events:

• To be held on the weekend of 4/5 December
• Simultaneously run at venues around the State, potentially including Warrnambool (South-West), Ballarat (Central), Bendigo (Loddon Mallee), Yarrawonga (North East) and Traralgon (Gippsland)

Details are still being worked through with key stakeholders and will be announced as soon as possible, but please ‘Save the Date’ for an important opportunity to re-connect with your sport and your friends before Christmas.

*Please note that the Metro Championships are still currently scheduled for 11/12 December played across Croydon and Dandenong Table Tennis centres.
