Published Fri 25 Mar 2016
Success all round for our top Victorian players in this year's Oceania Championships and Olympic qualification tournament. The Australian teams won all their respective team events in the Oceania Championships. Our Victorian representatives were David Powell, Heming Hu, Miao Miao, Melissa Tapper, Jian Fang Lay, Luke Cosgriff and Zaki Zenaidee. Jian Fang Lay won the women's singles title against Melissa Tapper while Chris Yan from NSW took the men's title from David Powell. Four Victorians qualified for selection for the Rio Olympics which will be announced in the next couple of months. David Powell, Jian Fang Lay and Melissa Tapper earned their right to be nominated as singles players, while Heming Hu also earned his spot to be nominated in the teams events. Once again, congratulations to all our Victorian players that competed in these two major competitions.
